My utility provider has switched to BankID - what do I do?

Some utility providers have moved from username/password login to BankID authentication on their customer portals. When this happens, Metry can no longer collect data automatically using your stored credentials - you need to switch collection method.

What changes

Previously Metry logged in to the utility’s customer portal with your username and password each night. Once a utility requires BankID, that automatic login stops working. You will see collection errors or missing values in the Metry portal.

Utilities that have made this switch include Ellevio, Göteborg Energi, Stockholm Exergi, Nacka Energi, and Sundsvalls Energi, among others.

If you or a colleague have a BankID registered with the utility, you can switch to manual monthly BankID sync.

  • In the Metry portal, go to Collection > Utility providers.
  • Find the affected utility and remove the old username/password credentials.
  • Add the utility again using the BankID option.
  • Perform the first BankID sync to start collection.

You will need to sign with BankID once a month when Metry reminds you. See How syncing data with BankID works for details.

If monthly manual signing is impractical, or if the utility supports it, Metry can order automated file transfers (EDIEL, FTP, or SFTP) directly from the utility on your behalf.

File collection is automatic once set up and does not require monthly action from you.

What happens to historical data

Switching collection method does not delete historical values already collected. Your metering history remains intact.

What to do if values are still missing after switching

If collection does not resume within 48 hours of switching method, contact support@metry.io with the utility provider name and the affected metering point IDs.
