Manual readings with Metry

Do you have water meters or other meters that lack connectivity? Do you want to read them manually in a smooth and reliable way?

We offer these tools for managing your manual data collection with us:

• The Readings app - used by building technicians and other staff to enter meter readings and handle meter replacements.
• The Metry portal - used to manage metering points, users, and monitor collection status.

The Readings app

Our Readings app was developed in close collaboration with building technicians and includes, among other things:

• Offline reading queue - readings entered without a connection sync automatically when you reconnect.
• Plausibility check of meter readings - prevents missed meter replacements and unreasonably high meter readings from being entered.
• Sort by distance or route - sort meters by distance to your current location, or set a manual route order.
• Meter note - write notes that make it easier for substitutes, for example, to find meters that are awkwardly placed.
• Meter changes - guides you through recording meter replacements so no information is missed.
• Consumption graph - view the last 12 months of consumption for each meter before entering a reading.

Manual collection in the Metry portal

Here you manage everything related to manual collection, for example:

• Create accounts for those who will read meters in the app.
• Set up metering points to be read.
• Determine when in the month meters should be read.
• Monitor which meters have been read.
• Interpolate meter readings if meters have not been read as expected.
• Handle any reading errors and edit/delete readings.

Get started right away

You can get started with manual readings in Metry today. Everything you need is already on your Metry account!

1. Set up metering points

• Select Add… and then Manual metering point… in the top right corner of the Active meters list in the Metry portal.
• Follow the steps in the guide that appears.

2. Invite readers

Invite those who will read the meters under Settings > Collaborators. You find Settings when you click your name in the menu at the top of the Metry portal.

When the invitation has been accepted, you can remove the ability for that user to log in to the Metry portal by checking Enable limited access for this collaborator (under Settings > Collaborators). That account can then only be used with the Readings app.

Readers open the Readings app at app.metry.io/readings in their web browser.

3. Assign metering points

• Select the metering points you want to assign to a reader and click the Edit button.
• Search for the person or people who should read the meter under the Reading coordinators heading.
• Click Save.

The metering points will now appear when the user logs in to the app.
