In the Metry Portal there are settings for manually read meters that control both when in the month it is possible to add readings in the app Metry Readings, and also how and when the calculation of consumption values happens based on these readings.
To avoid spending time controlling meters that are not read strictly within the reading period, or meters that are not even read every month, there are also settings so that you don't have to bother so often, or even at all, about when a meter is actually read - monthly consumption values are created anyways.
The settings are valid for your entire Metry account and all manual meters within.
Reading period
These settings control when the meter readers can start adding readings in the app Metry Readings. You set when you expect them to read their meters. It is still possible to add a late reading when the reading period is over.
If you want meters to be read in the beginning of the month, the setting "At the turn of the month" is suitable, meaning that from the first day of the month it is possible to add readings in the app Metry Readings. Even if it is possible to add late readings when the reading period is over, the app Metry Readings will indicate if it happens within the set reading period or not.
Example
You have set the reading period to start "At the turn of the month" and end "8 days after the turn of the month".
Then this is what it will look like in the app Metry Readings on the 8th of the month:
and on the 12th of the month:
Calculation
If you want to be more flexible, you can allow readings to be added before the turn of the month, for example by starting the reading period "2 days before the turn of the month". This, however, means that you have to select when monthly consumption values should be calculated if the reading happens before the turn of the month:
- Select the option "Immediately" to interpret the reading as if it was made exactly at the turn of the month and the consumption value can be calculated directly.
- Select the option "When the meter is read the next month" for a more correct consumption month to month, but also meaning that you have to wait for the next reading before consumption values are calculated.
Accept monthly values
Sometimes meters are read less regularly - perhaps water meters are only read once a year? In such cases, there is a possibility to select if and when you want to manually accept values in the Metry Portal (via interpolation).
- Select the option "Never" if you rather not think about when meters are read and don't feel a need to manually accept consumption values. The setting means consumption values are always automatically calculated between two readings, to the extent possible.
- Select the option "When a meter hasn't been read for more than X months" if you want to keep an eye on it if a meter has not been read in a couple of months. Meters that are read less often than this interval will lack monthly values and you can choose how you want to handle these. X is the maximum number of months you want to elapse between 2 readings.
