Can Metry collect from sources other than customer portals for utility provider data?

If a monthly value is often missing for a particular metering point, it may be because the utility provider’s collection or publication is delayed. In such cases, we recommend ordering collection of metering values via file for the metering point in order to continuously receive values. With file-based collection, we can supplement the collection and through redundant collection reach levels that in some cases are better than the average of the utility providers’ own collection.

Unfortunately, neither utility providers’ customer portals nor file transfers are guaranteed to work without errors - they can be down or fail to report data for various reasons. By collecting from multiple data sources, you can be sure of always receiving data since one source backs up the other.

If you only collect metering values from utility providers’ customer portals, you get around 90% of all available consumption data. If you only collect from files, you get approximately 62-86% of all data. But if you combine information from both customer portals and files, you get 98% of all available data.
